Ha Ha

Man, people are stupid sometimes. But since people being stupid is my chief source of amusement, I'm o.k. with that.

Go here.

Also, I'm totally pissed off at Facebook right now. I tried to put together an invitation to my birthday party next weekend, and I couldn't create the event I wanted because Facebook doesn't recognize Emma Lake as a place. Fuck you, Facebook! Fuck you right in the ear with no lube!

Fire

We had a fire at work on Tuesday. This marks the 2nd time in my life that the place where I work has started to burn. The fire was actually in the salon downstairs from us; apparently somebody knocked over a candle and didn't notice until a whole bunch of stuff was burning. The fire department kicked everybody out of the building for a couple of hours, but we didn't get the rest of the day off, and since I don't actually spend any time in the building anyway, the fire had a surprisingly small impact on my day.

No other big news to report. I'll finally be putting my boat in this weekend, so I'm looking forward to that. And in a few weeks I'll be celebrating my birthday, so if you're going to be up around Emma Lake on the 7th, come to my birthday party!

Stand tall, y'all.

We Should Read Comics in School

When I was in high school, I got into an argument with my history teacher. Four years later, I had basically the same argument with my Native Studies teacher at the U of S. Both my teacher and my professor were of the opinion that Louis Riel was a hero to the Metis people, while my opinion was that he was a religious whacko with a messianic complex who so totally fucked up the rebellion that it had no chance of succeeding. I also suggested that had Gabriel Dumont been in charge, the outcome would have been drastically different. This opinion was not well recieved, and I did not do well in my Native Studies class. Fast-forward to this morning, when I discovered this comic on Kate Beaton's wonderful website, which you can find here.

Take that, Native Studies professor! Always remember, kids, just because something you say is unpopular, that doesn't make it wrong.

See the Future

Last night, Arlan and I were having a discussion about the state of the music industry, and how much commerical radio sucks. For some reason, Arlan decided that we should check what was actually ON the radio, right at that moment. On the way to the radio, I said to Arlan, "It's gonna be the Smashing Pumpkins."

Now, If you've known me for long enough, you may be familiar with what I refer to as my "3-second precognition." Once in a while, I am able to correctly predict the outcome of, say, the rolling of some dice, and it's weird. I can't do it on command, or anything; which sucks, because I can't ever predict things I WANT to predict, or things that actually matter, or anything like that. I've never thought too much of it, and it is usually just dismissed as coincidince by those who witness it. But when Arlan turned on the radio and heard Billy Corgan's voice whining out of his speakers, he looked at me with wide eyes and, after a moment of silence, said "Dude. That's FUCKED."

Maybe I've finally discovered my super-power. For my super-hero name, I think I'll go with "Cere-Bro."
