HVC
Me and some of the other Geeks in Motion lads strapped 'em up and played in the High Voltage Classic this weekend. For those of you who don't know, the HVC is the annual road hockey tournament put on by the U of S engineers every spring. We took our lumps, but we played exceptionally well, and we had a good run. We started the tournament with a pair of lopsided victories before losing our final round-robin game 4-2 at 2:00 AM Sunday morning. We then won three straight elimintation games to get into the championship, where we faced off against the same team that had beaten us 14 hours earlier.
Unfortunately, they beat us again, 5-1, and we had to settle for 2nd place. Still, this was our best showing ever, and we can't be too unhappy with the result. Eddie, in particular, played his ass off, particularly in the semis. If he hadn't held us in that game for the first half, we never would have made it to the final. So after playing seven games in 27 hours and collecting dozens of welts, scrapes, and bruises, I gotta say that I had myself one damn fine weekend. And to top it all off, I got to go to the curling windup on Sunday night, where I finally got my trophy from two years ago! Woot!
Squirt out with your hurt out,
T.
